Customer Rating: Summary: Easy and efficient Comment: This product has solved my ergonomic needs better than anything I have had at a business or home office for the past 3 years! With it I was able to convert a "pre-computer age" desk to a very efficient workstation.
Also, really important to me was the ease of installation. The directions were easy to follow and all workings are intuitive--even for a nontechy like me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great keyboard. Good mouse. Comment: Received the S530 keyboard and mouse set for Mac yesterday and started using it right away. I have had several keyboards and mice from Logitech, and my last was an LX710 mouse and keyboard set for my Dell, so I am familiar with Logitech's desktop accessories, but this was the first for a Mac.
I initially thought the white-ness of the keyboard and mouse (in the pics) would be cheesy when paired with my new aluminum Macbook, but it actually looks decent in real life with the silver accents that match the new Macbook. My LX710 keyboard required the front of the keyboard to be raised for a comfortable position, but due to the design of the wrist wrest on this keyboard, I felt fine typing without raising the front (there are little legs that fold out if you still want to raise it though). The keys felt as familiar as any other Logitech keyboard I have had, which is a plus. I have not used the extra buttons yet, and I usually don't so i'm glad they're integrated into the sides without taking up much space.
The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the mouse. The mouse is decent, but does not feel as "substantial" as the mouse on the LX710. It's shaped a little more ergonomically, although I can't use it with my left hand (I'm right handed, but switch which hands use the mouse depending on what i'm doing) because of the shape. The scroll wheel felt "cheap" when scrolled because it made a "hallow" sound when scrolling instead of just feeling the detents as the wheel turned. The mouse itself felt very hallow, probably due to its size/shape which unnecessarily makes it bigger than needed to house all the parts. I'm comparing this mouse to both my previous LX710 mouse as well as a Mighty Mouse I have for my Mac Server. The highlights of this mouse though is that you can customize the back/forward buttons as well as the 3 sound control buttons for other functions on a Mac. I feel that it's not quite as responsive as my LX710 was in Vista, but it'll do (considering the Mighty Mouse doesn't have a back/forward button).
The USB receiver piece is standard Logitech, meaning it doesn't match the rest of the set because it's the dark-blue plastic one...no big deal since this is plugged into a USB hub behind my monitor anyway.
Overall, this product is a good replacement for the overpriced Mac wireless accessories (the Apple cordless keyboard doesn't have a numberpad...which I need, otherwise I'd just type on the laptop keyboard! The Mighty Mouse is nice but could use at least back/forward buttons!). The only real negative that I can give to this keyboard/mouse set is lack of bluetooth. I know it would probably be more expensive than it is, but I would gladly pay a little more for bluetooth support.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best keyboard for MAC ! Comment: Very nice keyboard and mouse, especially the mouse. Works great with MAC, except one thing that the brightness adjustment button does NOT work. I dont know why. There's no driver for this if you use Windows on a MAC.
Customer Rating: Summary: Perfect Set for my Macbook Comment: I decided to get a keyboard and mouse set so I wouldn't have to sit so up close anymore to my laptop. This was definitely worth it!
This keyboard feels really nice to type with and removes the need for the "fn" key which the wireless Apple keyboard has.
The keys feel like any other keyboard, and the keypad is great too.
The software that you can get from Logitech is great in its ability to allow you to customize many aspects of the set, including the keys on the mouse. Since I found the audio changing things useless, I just switched them off for the Next/Previous Tab and Close Window hotkeys.
When I went to Windows under Bootcamp, the mouse worked perfectly after installing the Windows version of the Logitech software. It detected it as an MX500 and allowed me to do the customizations desired. The keyboard was not detected, but the keys did their general functions: Home page, Email, Volume, etc. Which was good enough for me in Windows.
My only complaints about this keyboard and mouse is this:
The keyboard does not have a Caps Lock light, which doesn't bother me as much since I'm really good typer, but my girlfriend didn't realize she kept typing in the wrong password.
The volume changing on a mouse is almost useless IMO, but they still have the pictures on the mouse. It would be preferable if those pictures weren't there.
Also, the USB dongle that it came with did not match what was in the picture, instead it's a big black chunky one.
Regardless, this is still a really sexy, functional, and amazing keyboard mouse combo.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works fairly well and is as advertised Comment: I really like this keyboard and mouse combo for use with my 17 inch iMac. It works well and feels good to type. However, My one setback on this item is that the "hotkey" functionality does not go across user accounts. You must set it up on each account for it to work. Overall I like the keyboard and mouse though.
